Thermoplastic Injection Insert Molding

Custom plastic injection molding technology and plastic manufacturing have developed innovative methods to incorporate different sets of materials into the same tooling process. Known as thermoplastic injection insert molding, this process allows for materials like metal, rubber, and other types of thermoplastics to be inserted into the injection cavity prior to injection. When the matrix of thermoplastic material is injected, the parts will be fused to the cooled material for a reliable and effective integration of components into the final tooled part. Aline Components is an experienced plastic injection molding company with the capability to do insert molding for a wide variety of applications and industries.

Insert molding is especially useful in applications where thermoplastics can act as a ‘chassis’ for materials with other material properties. For example, many types of threaded metal components are commonly sealed into thermoplastics to allow metal connections at critical structural areas of the component, at points where plastic components must be reliably fixed to others by a threaded metal connection. In other applications, different injection molded plastics parts, made from different types of plastics with different properties, can be incorporated into a multi-pass injection molded process where a set of injection molded plastic parts are created and then inserted into the final tooling process. The plastic inserts are then fused into the final plastic part. Thermoplastic injection insert molding adds yet another highly useful option for custom plastic injection technology.
